What's happening?
As you may be aware, KBC Bank Ireland (“KBCI”) has announced the decision to formally wind down the operations of the bank and exit the Irish market. As a result of that decision KBCI will no longer offer Car insurance to customers. KBC Car Insurance products are currently underwritten, administered, and provided by Zurich Insurance plc and these policies will remain with Zurich Insurance.
What to expect...
After the 15th July, KBC will no longer offer New Car policies to our customers.
What you need to do...
You do not need to take any action.

My Policy

What will happen to my Insurance policy?

If you have a Car Insurance policy, this will continue to be underwritten and administered by Zurich Insurance on the same terms and conditions as before. As a result there are no changes to your policy and you do not need to take any actions.  

If your Car Insurance is due for renewal shortly you will receive your renewal documents from Zurich Insurance 4 weeks before your renewal date. This document will include the renewal price and outline the terms of the policy for the coming 12 months along with payment methods to renew your insurance policy with Zurich.

Your Car Insurance policy will be unaffected and will be fulfilled and serviced by Zurich Insurance. For now, you do not need to take any action. Customers will at all times continue to be afforded all the relevant legal and regulatory protections.

Who should I contact if I want to make a complaint?

If you have a complaint or noticed an error regarding your Car policy, you can contact the Zurich Customer Service Team on (053) 9157775 or alternatively you can email the Zurich Customer Support Team on customersupport@zurich.ie

If you have a complaint regarding the Transfer of your policy to Zurich Insurance or have a complaint regarding any of your KBC policies, you can contact the KBC Complaints team on 01-6646000 or you can email complaintsteam@kbc.ie. 

What impact will this transfer have on my current discount/premium?

Any discount applied on your current policy along with your current premium will not be impacted as a result of this transfer. There will be no changes to your current policy.

Important Information about your Car Insurance

  • Up to 55% No Claims Discount.

    Personal Effects cover up to €550 - Protect your personal belongings e.g. handbag, clothing, sports equipment and childcare accessories (applies to fully comprehensive policies only).

    Stepback Protected No Claims Bonus - Your bonus is fully protected against fire, windscreen & theft claims. You only lose 2 years no claims bonus for other claims (applies up to a maximum 5-year NCB). Front, back and side windows are covered as standard on the comprehensive car insurance policies and is available as an optional extra on third party fire and theft policies.

    New for Old Replacement Car - If your car is written off or stolen and not recovered, within 12 months of the date it was registered as new by you, you'll get a brand new one.

    Courtesy Car - Up to a max. 7 day period & up to a Class B category vehicle (1.2 petrol engine) after an accident where a claim is open and an approved repairer is used.
  • Bonus is fully protected against Windscreen breakage. Any one Fire & Theft claim will not affect your no claims bonus at the next renewal however the no claims discount percentage will not increment at the next renewal. In the event of two or more claims of any type (except Windscreen claims) arising in one year of insurance, no discount will be allowed at the following renewal.
  • Only applicable if your car is stolen and not recovered or damaged to an extent greater than 60% of the manufacturer’s list price at time of change and has not travelled more than 24,000 Kilometres.
  • Courtesy car up to a maximum 7 day period and up to Class B category vehicle (1.2 Petrol engine), if your vehicle is damaged and being repaired by one of the approved repairers, provided such damage is recoverable under your policy. If your vehicle has been damaged beyond economical repair or has been stolen and not yet recovered, provided such damage is recoverable under your policy, we will arrange for a replacement courtesy car up to a maximum of 10 days. Refer to your policy document for full terms and conditions in relation to this benefit.
