The KBC Student Current Account is available to personal customers, i.e. your Student Current Account may be used to operate and manage your personal financial affairs. For example you may receive wages and salary payments and pay personal and domestic bills. Your Student Current Account may not be used for any business, charity, club, society or other organisation.
You must be resident in the Republic of Ireland.
You may open a sole account or joint account with another person.
To open a joint account the main accountholder must be a Student.
You may only open one Student Current Account.
You must be aged 17 or over to open this account.
This account is available to eligible* full time students attending a Republic of Ireland third level institution for more than 21 hours each week. The duration of the course must be at least one academic year.

If you have held a KBC Student Current Account previously, we may not offer this to you again.
Where you are no longer a full time student in a third level institution, the Student Current Account and its benefits may no longer be available.
Fees and charges may then be applied to your account and you can view these in our Fees and Charges Booklet.
We may change your account to a Standard Current Account if we have reason to believe you are no longer in full time third level education, or at the end of the term of your third level course as stated on your Current Account application form.
Please note: KBC Bank Ireland does not offer cash facilities at our hub locations and so are unable to cater for cash lodgements or withdrawals in our premises.

*Free day to day banking means you won’t be charged for day to day use of your account - like cash withdrawals and quarterly fees for maintaining the account. Fees and charges may apply for ATM cash withdrawals and using a debit card for purchases in foreign currency.
You can apply for an Overdraft facility if you are aged 18 or over but this is subject to application.
The KBC Student Current Account is a Euro account. You cannot make lodgements to your Student Current Account in any currency other than Euro.

Opening a Current Account should be something you can do anytime anywhere and with KBC it is. You can open your account with us across many different channels and we have called out the requirements for each below:
